frombitstoatoms
Exploring the impact of the 3D printers in our everyday life. A collection of products that are available to be downloaded online and printed anywhere in the world.
A project directed by Héctor Serrano and designed by students of the Master in Product Design at the UCH-CEU.
THE HOME FACTORY
Nowadays 3D printers have been democratized by lowering their cost to the price of a domestic appliance. This fact is raising the possibility that soon there will be a 3D printer in every home, in other words: a small factory at our place.
DOWNLOAD AND 3D PRINT
Great logistical, energy and economic saving. The design criteria is not driven by technology but by user and context needs. Intelligent and simple solutions that are functional and emotionally attractive.
DATA INSTEAD OF MATTER
The project questions the way we design, manufacture and market an object: the user no longer buys the physical object, but the information to print it, being able to modify it, personalize it or simply print it as its author designed it.
